Preparations

Preparing your position

Early Preparations - Your preparation for the conference should begin as soon as you have received your confirmation of participation. First of all, make yourself familiar with past decisions and the function of your committee and start research on the agenda topics. You will find useful documents and information on this site (see below).

PreparationPrepare your country / party position - Collect all kind of information regarding the country you will represent during the simulation. Compile its objectives, demands and positions towards the topics on the agenda. Try to answer the following questions: What kind of decisions might be in "my" interest respectively in the interest of "my" country / party? What might run counter to this (national) interest? Are there any other members of my committee with similar positions? Is their any room for negotiation? In which fields is there room for bargaining? etc.

Prepare Opening Statement - All participants should prepare a typed opening statement, approximately 2-4 minutes in length prior to the conference. These opening remarks should outline "your" objectives and key positions without revealing your complete negotiation tactics. You are supposed to present your opening statement during one of the first sessions of your committee.

Make yourself familiar with the rules of procedures of your committee which you can find on our website's online-forum.

Online Forum

Most of the preparation in the run up to the conference will be pursued by virtual communication via our Online Forum, in which all members of a conference committee exchange relevant information on the topics being discussed and get in touch with their chairs. As soon as you have been accepted to the conference you can log on to the Online Forum and choose your own password. After we have activated your password you can use the tools of the Online Forum.

Should you have any problems with accessing the Online Forum, please write an E-mail to the organising committee ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) or contact one of your committee chairs.
