History

The Munich European Forum e.V. came officially into being in 1994 as the Society for the Fostering of Model United Nations, e.V. Its main goal was the spreading of the idea and practice of Model United Nations (simulated proceedings of various committees of the UN) - in Europe. In 1995 a first simulation was held at the Academy for Political Education in Tutzing. While this conference met with great interest and success, it was soon felt that European issues were widely being neglected in the Model United Nations "scene".
The logical conclusion was to redefine the focus of the conference to those regional organisations, the European Union, NATO, WEU, WTO, and others, in which the most progress in economic integration and collective security was being made. The Association's name was therefore changed in 1997.
The Association's membership is comprised of graduates and students of the following Universities:
- Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (Germany)
- University of Ghent (Belgium)
- Hebrew University Jerusalem (Israel)
- University of Toulouse (France)
- Moscow State University of Radioelectronics (Russia)
- Loughborough University (United Kingdom)
- University College London (United Kingdom)
- Charles University of Prague (Czech Republic)
